Experiential Rewards

What are experiential rewards?

There are two kinds of experiential rewards:

Experiential rewards are events where customers are encouraged to try new things. These experiences include food tasting, product testing, and other activities where customers may be given something for free. The goal is to encourage them to come back and purchase from you again.

This is a marketing and customer experience use of experiential rewards, which has been around since the early 1900s when the first department stores began giving away samples of products as part of their sales strategy.

The other type of experiential reward is one where you are offering a memorable experience instead of something tangible like merchandise.  Examples include vacations, concerts, shows, tours, excursions, sporting events, attractions, theme parks, and so on.

Why are experiential rewards effective?

They are effective because they are memorable and emotional, and they can be more environmentally friendly, more educational, more inspirational, and more appealing than other types of rewards.

The pandemic caused a shift in the mindset of many people.  They have realized that they have one life to live and they are going to live it fully.  An experiential reward is going to help them achieve this goal.

The pandemic also caused a pent-up demand for exploration and experiences. Travel is making a comeback and people are eager to get out and enjoy themselves again.

Supply change issues have caused huge issues for manufacturers and retailers alike. A segment of the population has awakened to the understanding that they don't need as much stuff as they once thought they needed.

And climate change and social justice are huge issues too, with more people realizing that their buying habits are contributing to the issue.

In other words, people are saying "give me great experiences" instead of more stuff that clutters my home, and contributes to the major global issues.

Who should be using experiential rewards?

Any business or organization should consider using experiential rewards. It's a proven way to increase brand loyalty, improve customer service, build relationships, and grow your business.

It's also a great way to reward your employees while being socially and environmentally responsible.

A study by Harris Group found that 72 percent of millennials prefer to spend more money on experiences than on material things.

When should experiential rewards be used?

You should start using experiential rewards now. You can start small and then expand if you see results.

Use them to show appreciation for the efforts of your employees.

Use them as an extrinsic motivator to reach specific targets such as finishing a project ahead of schedule, or selling a defined number of products or reaching a stretch goal.

Use them to thank customers for their loyalty.

Use them to introduce new products.

Use them to celebrate milestones.

Use them to promote special events.

Use them to create awareness about your company or cause.

Use them to develop employee morale.

How are brands using experiential rewards?

Brands are starting to use experiential rewards in different ways. Some brands are using them to give away free product samples to potential customers. Others are using them to provide incentives to employees.

Why experiential rewards should be your priority this year

  1. FOMO is very real for many people, especially when they see where their friends or colleagues have gone, and perhaps it may nudge them to do whatever it takes so they can experience a similar situation
  2. The memories of a great experience linger for a lot longer than the pleasure of buying a new gadget
  3. The economy is improving. This means there will be increased competition for your clients' dollars.
  4. Your competitors are already using experiential rewards to attract consumers.
  5. There is a growing trend towards experiential rewards.
  6. People want to do good for others during this time.
  7. You have an opportunity to connect with your audience in a unique way.
  8. If you aren't using experiential rewards, you'll lose market share.
  9. You can make a difference by offering ways for people to grow themselves personally
  10. You can encourage positive behavior.

What experiential rewards can you offer?

The answer is the rewards in this catalog!

However, if you are offering experiential rewards as part of a marketing campaign you can use any of these ideas:

  • Food and drinks
  • Admission to a concert, museum, movie theater, etc.
  • Tickets to sporting events
  • Advice and/or classes for leveraging the benefits of your product
  • Free consultation or trials

Nice Things People Say About Us

Her ideas were always exactly what we needed, even when we didn’t know at first what we needed.

Carol’s work with us was always top notch. I always felt comfortable allowing her to speak to senior management. Her ideas were always exactly what we needed, even when we didn’t know at first what we needed. I would work with Carol again in a heartbeat.

Alhassan

VICE PRESIDENT OF HR

I enjoyed working with you and your wonderful staff.

…I wanted to thank you for your patience, time and of course, Tim Horton’s coupons at Christmas. I enjoyed working with you and your wonderful staff. …I was worried when Lynn left on mat leave. I couldn’t picture you finding a replacement that was as capable, as outgoing and as dedicated as her. But, you found Arlene, who is a real treasure. She has just been so wonderful, fun and just a delight to work with.

World Incentive Network Inc. is a BC based company, founded in 1996.  We are a full service incentive marketing and performance improvement company that creates, markets, and manages reward, recognition, and incentive programs.

As part of our services, we connect qualified buyers with vetted suppliers.  We do this as affiliates, value added resellers, consultants, and influencers.

Who Pays for Your Services?

We provide a variety of services including consulting, program design, program management, and marketing.  These services are paid for by the business who needs our assistance.

The suppliers listed in our directory pay us for marketing their business and selling their products or services.

What size companies do you work with?

The suppliers in the WIN directory have been chosen so that businesses of all sizes can find the best solution for their specific needs.

There are suppliers who cater to Mom and Pop businesses, small businesses, mid-market companies and enterprises.

Our role is to connect you to the supplier that is best suited for your business and its needs.

What do you do, exactly?

The WIN Directory is a marketing service for business performance improvement suppliers.  We enter into arrangements where we market, and sometimes sell, on behalf of the supplier.

We also work with the buyer to help them select the best option for their particular needs, whether it is simply recommending a supplier and making the connection, or combining a variety of suppliers to create a unique and customized solution.

If you need help to create, promote, and manage incentive programs or recognition programs, our specialists will take care of you.

And, if we're not a good fit for each other, with respect to your needs and our services, we will happily refer you to a better suited service provider.
